Itinerary

Day 1: After arriving in Normandy, we start our introduction to D-Day at the site that would become known as Pegasus Bridge; discussing the story of the first places to be liberated in France. Continuing with the story, we venture to the Merville Battery and learn what happens when you attack a position with reduced numbers. To end our day on the eastern flank, we will visit Ranville Cemetery.

Day 2: We continue our discovery of the British sector by travelling to Gold Beach and explore the landing area, including a visit to the new British Normandy Memorial, Arromanches-les-Bains, and the Mulberry Harbour. After some free time in the town, we will visit our next bit of

concrete, the Longues-sur-Mer Battery before we seize a rare opportunity to take  a big step back in time and visit the Bayeux Tapestry, which tells the story of the victory of William the Conqueror.

Day 3: As we move over towards the American sector, our first stop will be a solemn one to Le Cambe German Cemetery, to talk about the difficulties surrounding commemoration of Second World War German forces in France. After this, we will take our tour down to Omaha Beach, the bloodiest sector on D-Day. A visit to the Overlord Museum will be rounded off with visiting the Normandy American Cemetery.

Day 4: Our final day will start with a visit to Utah Beach, which provides an interesting comparison to Omaha. We will then venture inland to cover the American Airborne sectors, including a visit to St Mere Eglise, and Brecourt Manor of Band of Brothers fame. We will then finish our tour at Bayeux Cemetery and Memorial to the Missing before heading home.
