Trace the British Army’s part in the invasion
Join historian and author Peter Hart for tour that combines the military history of the 1943 invasion with as much of Sicily's food and wine as you can manage. There are even visits to key locations that appear in the classic film: The Godfather.

Itinerary
Day 1: We arrive in Catania. There will be time to settle in, followed by a talk on the genesis of the campaign from your guide.
Day 2: Today we concentrate on the British and Canadian landings, with stops in the southeastern corner of Sicily, including Lamba Doria battery, and Fort Manica, we will also take a look at the logistics of the campaign.
Day 3: We focus today on the push north, including events at Primosole Bridge. There will also be stops at the German mausoleum, Catania Cemetery and the war museum in Catania.
Day 4: Today the attention is on Montgomery’s Left Hook. We’ll examine the role of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, and as well as battle locations we will stop in at the CWGC Cemetery at Agira.
Day 5: We finish the story of the Sicily campaign with the spectacular view from Mount Etna, and then it is on to other important business. The volcano has it’s own micro-climate, and the rest of the day is dedicated to spectacular views, food, drink and some stops for film buffs at key locations used in The Godfather, including drinks at Bar Vitelli and a chance to sit on Al Pacino’s chair.
Day 6: Any free time this morning is spent strolling the streets of Taormina and sampling famous granitas at the Bam Bam Bar. If you’re going to do it like a local, you need a brioche to dip in your drink! There is a chance to purchase some essential cooking ingredients and souvenirs, then it’s off to the airport and home.

Peter Hart is passionate about sharing the story of the Sicily campaign, not to mention eating Sicilian food! He has carried out military history tours of the island for NATO and for the British Army.
There isn't a corner of eastern Sicily that Alex hasn't explored. As tour manager she'll take care of the Godfather location visits, a trip to mount Etna and make sure that you get to try all the best food and drink that the island has to offer.
